At first, you might not notice them, but coastal wading birds, marsh inhabitants, and other shorebirds abound at Charles Towne landing. Birders can see many different shorebirds at the Landing, from tiny marsh sparrows to grand wood storks — even a pelican!
To preserve this valuable habitat, the Friends have provided initial funding to begin the development of a sanctuary for these fragile creatures. We continue to provide additional funding to complete the habitat. Development is ongoing.
